PUSOT' DIWA PARA SA BAYAN
If we are really serious and want to help our country and its people, there is a way to do it. We can do it. Our group can do it. Our forum can do it. One individual Pinoy can do it. One family can do it. We believe there are many of us who could be considered a little bit lucky and can share our blessings, specially those of us in RP or abroad who have enough "puso't diwa" to do it.
What we are trying to say is employment is the number one problem in RP. So we must think of ways to create employment and livelihood within our means and on the basis of our charitable hearts.
Even the very rich cannot claim that they have unlimited resources. If they want to give including those who are not so rich but want to give and can afford to give, must also be given that chance to maximize the benefits of his giving. If one is given a choice that his ten dollars can benefit 10 people, instead of just 1 person, will he not choose the one that benefits 10 people. That is the essence of the Free Piglets Program that is applicable in any place in the Philippines, for them to apply it in their own hometowns and provinces, because of the low donation involved and yet the benefits are enormous for it can help many people.
A FREE PIGLETS PROGRAM IN VINZONS, CAMARINES NORTE.
The concept is well-defined in www.freewebs.com/piglets-unlimited. There are also many towns using the same concept listed in that website.
In simple terms, we give one piglet to one beneficiary and he pays back 2 piglets, for redistribution to other 2 beneficiaries, and this process is repeated without end, annually.
If you notice, we run the program via the internet, a very useful tool in in this time and age. Without emails, it's difficult to implement this project.
We must have a trusted contact man based in Vinzons, who has access to the internet and with some dedication towards volunteerism. He could be a Councilor or Kagawad, and/or Barangay captain or Punong Barangay, and/or Plain citizen who is aquainted with social programs, or just plain citizen with leadership qualities. He must be mature enough to know how to select beneficiaries and recipients, select other volunteers and helpers, how to manage funds, buy the piglets and arrange for delivery to recipients, conduct regular visits, take pictures, submit email reports, and be resourceful enough to supervise the whole activities related to the project.
Then there is that very important goal to change the culture of the recipient into helping succeeding recipients. We help them and they must also help others. They themselves become secondary donors. One piglet today becomes 2 piglets charity next year, then 4, then 8, then 16 in the 5th year. For example, a $50 (cost of a piglet) donation as seed donation becomes $3,100.- in 5 years without the donor knowing it, as charity multiplies by leaps and bounds. There is no stopping in its growth. But all recipients, both now and future ones, must develop this culture of helping others. That's the only way to maintain this growth, with the full leadership and assitance of that local trusted team of volunteers.
The success of this program depends a great deal on partnership of donors+ volunteers+ recipients.
VOLUNTEERS - COORDINATORS
A team of trusted local volunteers in Vinzons will handle the piglets project. We are happy that ARMANDO RAMORES, who lives in Brgy. Mangcawayan has accepted to become the leader of local volunteers. He is a Talisayon, married to a taga-Vinzons. He is active member-Treasurer of Knights of Columbus in local chapter. He owns a farm and piggery. He was formerly an Irrigation supervisor in Talisay. His team will do the selection of recipients, the schedule of dispersals and other activities needed by the program.
RECIPIENTS
The main qualifications of the recipient is that he or she must be of legal age, good citizen, married or single, and can afford to raise and feed the pig, provide pig pen, water and maintain sanitary conditions, and comply with the agreement of paying back 3 piglets after birth. The recipient in effect becomes a donor and must assume some responsibilities towards helping future recipients. A separate page gives details about recipients and selection process.
As you can see, the recipient is not poor, but he must be below middle class. This program is not for the poorest of the poor. This program is for stimulating the economy, by giving pigs to as many people as possible in order to promote more livelihood, more employment, more purchasing power, and ultimately spread the benefits to all people, including the poor.
FINANCES AND ACCOUNTING
Accounting or Finances Page will be maintained to record all transactions in chronological order. Nothing will remain unrecorded. In effect, this will show also updated list of donors.
ORGANIZATION
We are not a non-profit corporation. We are not a foundation. We are basically an Initiatives Group that is promoting this idea. We are running this program with a core group in Brooklyn NY, composed of Jobo Elizes, Vangie Ramores & Tim Ramores and by www.groups.yahoo.com/group/vinzonians-n-friends The method that we are using is self-help by the volunteers in the town, supported by donations from all over the world, merely passing thru our hands, and going directly to purchase of piglets and direct distribution to recipients, who are themselves involved in the partnership. There is no management expenses in NY and no salaries or wages are paid to the NY Core Group and to Vinzons volunteers, except unavoidable minimal petty cash expenses, as will be reported by the Overseer-Volunteer Armando Ramores.
